This is our second visit and it still has the pleasant and relaxing atmosphere, with lovely people, lovely clean rooms, and a great breakfast, we would book again without hesitation when visiting this area.
Ideal for walking and cycling, or just admiring the beautiful countryside.

2nd time visit and really enjoyed our stay. Scenery is beautiful and the weather was perfect. Rooms are perfect and have every thing you need. Janet cooks are perfect full English breakfast with selection of fruit and cereals.

Absolutely beautiful place to stay, warm, beautifully clean, great breakfast and Janet the own is lovely. Couldn’t recommend enough. Stayed at many places in Pendle this is the best by far.

We have come here to Pendle again for the lovely views and serene location. The room with the conservatory is outstanding with it’s view over the pastures full of sheep, ducks, and horses. Great for rainy mornings to just sit and watch the animals. Janet’s breakfasts are spot-on with a huge selection to choose from. I want to take the bed home with us – it was so comfortable. Everything was spotlessly clean and tidy. Have stayed here at Thorneyholme B & B. previously and will surely come again – stayed a week this time. Looking forward to seeing it in the spring.

We stayed 2 nights and had very comfortable stay. We were made to feel very welcome and the setting was perfect. The room was immaculate and bed was very comfortable. Breakfast could not be better. Would recommend this reasonably priced B&B to anyone.

I stayed for two days in the twin room which was spacious as was the bathroom. Modern decoration and everything was all presented to a high standard. I would have been happy to stay longer with a friendly owner who made me feel welcome! Lovely views around the room, I loved seeing so many birds visiting the bird feeders outside – very tranquil. Good choice of breakfast too!

Amazing extra-large room, with view on pastures. Lovely host who provided for food and exceptional recommendation for restaurant and places to see. You don’t get to stay at places like these very often. Super-recommended!!! Luca

We have been going to this lovely B & B for the last fourteen years and can find no fault with it at all. The room we had was the annexe with the bedroom plus a little lounge, both furnished with care and comfort in mind. Our TV was 32″ which is big enough plus fridge , microwave, toaster etc. The breakfast was lovely, plenty of choice for cereals (at least nine different choices) there was a wide variety of fruit which we could have chosen, the full English breakfast was to die for, with my favourite “black pudding”. We had plenty of toast available with tea or coffee. The owner always gives us a very warm & friendly welcome each time we go there. Long may she continue !!!

You could easily drive past this place as you have to take a narrow drive between buildings on the road to get to this little farm house in Rouglee, we missed it despite the sat nav telling us we had arrived, but found the entrance when we turned round. There is lodging in two rooms, ours was a twin in a purpose built extension and there is apparently a double with basic cooking facilities like a microwave etc. that we didnt actually see. The room is decorated and fitted to a very high quality and very clean and very spacious. We were greeted when we arrived by the friendly owner who showed us in and gave us fresh milk for our tea and left us to settle in. First impressions were excellent, large, modern, fully tiled bathroom with big walk in shower with solid screen, big sink with vanity unit, modern toilet, all spotlessly clean.
The farmhouse is in a beautiful situation, being on a footpath with Roughlee village a ten minute walk away and Barley a fifteen minute walk away in each direction alongside the lovely riverside of Pendle Water, the room overlooks fields and the riverside, and a garden with a little patio and water feature which was very sweet and we were invited to use, it is however part of the owners own garden and some might feel a bit uncomfortable sitting out there with everyday life going on around them. The room is also accessed by the owner through a adjoining door through to the farm kitchen where breakfast is served and there is some noise from general life going on in the farmhouse which could be a bit of an issue but we were also able to help ourselves to milk from the owners fridge throughout our stay which was a plus, the door is lockable however.

Breakfast was ok, small selection of cereals, one portion of fruit selected by owner, scrambled egg on one small thin piece of toast (we are vegetarians) and one piece of toast after. Not a vast amount or any sort of choice really, maybe a small breakfast menu would be an idea. Dont get me wrong, it was all lovely, but every other b and b I’ve been too has some sort of variety or choice….the scrambled egg was gorgeous, made with fresh eggs from her own chickens and the best I’ve ever tasted, but after three days of the same it became a bit tedious. I do realise that often us veggies are a bit of an enigma and people dont always know what to give us 🙂

Locally for food we visited the Pendle Inn in Barley village, very good food here, and The Bay Horse in Roughlee….quite posh but nice menu. Lots of lovely walks from here, a brilliant place to stay to explore the Ribble Valley.
One more downside was the tv, was a flat screen with dvd player built in but quite small and signal was frequently scrambling especially in the evening making it quite hard to watch.

Overall though, we had a great stay here and would recommend it to other travellers.
